A great half term, Team Woodlands🌳
It has been a wonderful few weeks at Woodlands. Thank you to all our families for your great help and support.
A big well done to our children. You have worked very hard. We are so proud of how you show our RESPECT values every day by being kind and helpful to others.
There are many special events happening during the break. We wish a happy celebration to all our families:
-
Lunar New Year: Happy New Year to everyone celebrating!
-
Pancake Day: We hope you enjoy making and eating pancakes this Tuesday.
-
Ramadan Mubarak to our Muslim families starting their fast over the half-term break. We wish you a peaceful month.
Back to School
We look forward to seeing you all again very soon.
School starts again: Monday 23rd February at 8:40am
Have a safe and happy break!

Every minute counts 👍
To give our children the best possible start to their day, we want to remind everyone about our morning routine. Consistent routines help children feel settled and ready to learn.
School doors open 8:40 AM
Learning begins 8:45 AM
Arriving just 5 minutes late every day adds up to over three days of lost learning across the school year!
Uniform shows we're in it together 👏
We take great pride in our school identity, and seeing the children in correct uniform every day sets a purposeful tone for learning.
Need a hand? We understand that life happens and circumstances change. If you are struggling with uniform requirements or need support, please don’t hesitate to speak to our team. We are here to help.
We're here to help! 👐
Your child’s teacher is your first port of call for any concerns, big or small. Catch them at the door or arrange a time to chat so we can work together to support your child.
Thank you for your continued partnership in making Woodlands such a wonderful place to learn.
We're using the Arbor Parent App 📱
From Monday 23rd February, we will use the Arbor Parent App to share our messages with families.
We know that new apps can be tricky. If you need help downloading it or logging in, please come to our drop-in sessions.
Mr Trower will be in the School Library to help you on:
- Tuesday 24th February at 8:45 am, or
- Wednesday 25th February at 8:45 am.
Our Pupil Parliament visit to Westminster 👏
On Tuesday, our Year 4, 5 & 6 Pupil Parliament representatives visited the Houses of Parliament for a tour of the House of Commons and the House of Lords.

Year 5 High Adventures residential 🧗
This week, our Year 5 children challenged themselves at High Adventures for three days of residential fun! We're so proud of how they rose to the challenge!

🏆 The "Perfect Picnic" Challenge
Goal: Plan a family picnic using only things you already have at home.
📝 The 3-Step Plan
To be a great planner, draw or write your answers to these three things:
- The Spot: Where will it be? (The rug? Under the table? At the park?)
- The Snack: What is in the cupboard? (A sandwich? An apple? A biscuit?)
- The Fun: What game will you play while you eat?
🚀 Do It!
- Gather your food and a blanket.
- Set up your picnic spot.
- Top Tip: If something goes wrong (like a spill or a change in weather), just change the plan and keep going!
💡 Quick Tips for Grown-ups
- Keep it visual: Let children draw their plan instead of writing it.
- No cost: Use old sheets for blankets and everyday snacks for the meal.
- The Skill: Focus on the order of things (e.g., "We need the blanket before we put the food down").
