What makes Woodlands special?
Learning that brings the world to life
Learning at Woodlands goes beyond the classroom.
Children take part in school trips and enjoy visitors coming into school throughout the year.
We also have 32 virtual reality headsets, which can take children to places around the world and help bring lessons to life.
Our dedicated wildlife area, with a pond and firepit, gives children more chances to explore, learn and enjoy being outdoors.
Helping every child feel happy, confident and supported
Every child is different, and we want every child to feel included and supported.
Our sensory room gives children a calm space with specialist equipment.
We also have The Meadow, a separate outdoor area for children who may find the main playground difficult or overwhelming.
It gives them space for movement, sensory activities and quiet time.
There is also a dedicated therapy room in The Nest for children and families who may need extra support.
A wonderful place to start school
Nursery and Reception at Woodlands
Starting Nursery or Reception is an important step for children and families.
At Woodlands, we work hard to make children feel welcome, confident and ready to learn from the beginning.
Our Early Years children have lots of opportunities to play, explore, talk, create and learn both indoors and outside.
Our newly refurbished Early Years outdoor area gives children even more space to learn through play and develop their independence.
Our Nursery welcomes children aged 3 to 4. Please find all the Nursery information here.
If you are looking for a Nursery or Reception place, we would love to show you around.
Supporting children who are new to English
Woodlands is proud to welcome families who speak many different languages.
Children who are new to English can use Flash Academy, a digital learning platform that helps them build their English step by step.
It also supports children's home languages, helping them learn with confidence.
Parents can use Flash Academy too, so families can learn together at home.
Our team is also here to help parents understand school information and feel part of the school community.
Building confidence, teamwork and ambition
We want children to leave Woodlands with more than academic knowledge.
Every Friday, children take part in Commando Joe's activities.
These active sessions help children develop teamwork, communication, problem-solving, resilience and confidence.
We also help children learn about different careers and think about what they might want to do in the future.
Our work in this area has been recognised with the Skills Builder Silver Award and the Primary Quality in Careers Award.
A school for the whole family
At Woodlands, we believe families are an important part of school life.
The Nest gives children and parents a dedicated space to learn, meet and get support.
It includes a new family kitchen, which can be used as part of the school curriculum and for family activities.
There is also a family room for group sessions and a separate therapy room.
We also run The Pan-Tree, our social supermarket, with support from our Academy Community Pioneer and parent volunteers.
It is another way we work together to support families in our community.
What does Ofsted say about Woodlands?
Pupils at Co-op Academy Woodlands are keen, interested and inquisitive.
Ofsted also recognised the school's diverse community and the support given to children who are learning English.
