Our first ever Mini Marathon

A Day of Determination and Community Spirit
On Friday 1st May, the streets around Woodlands were filled with energy, cheers and a lot of running shoes! We held our very first TCS Mini Marathon and it was a day we will never forget.
Every single child, from our youngest in Nursery to our oldest in Year 6, took on the challenge. They ran a course around the school grounds and the local area. Even as the sun came out and the temperature rose, our pupils showed incredible resilience. They didn't give up, proving that with a bit of hard work, they can achieve anything they set their minds to.
What made the day truly special was the support from our Harehills and Gipton community. It felt like the whole neighbourhood turned out to cheer! We saw parents with handmade banners and our neighbours even beeped their horns in encouragement as our runners passed by!
Mrs Clark, our Headteacher, was incredibly proud of everyone involved. She said:
"It was wonderful to see us following in Miss Charles' footsteps by setting a big challenge for our pupils. The community spirit really shone through. Seeing our children push themselves and our families and community cheering them on is exactly what Woodlands is all about."
We want to say a huge thank you to all the families who came down to support. A special shout-out goes to the parents who kindly donated ice lollies—they were a very welcome treat at the finish line and all the staff and volunteers who made this event such a success.
Events like this show that when we work together, our children can truly thrive. We are already looking forward to making next year’s Mini Marathon even bigger and better!
