World of Work Week 2026

Dreaming Big: World of Work Week 2026

At Woodlands, we believe in helping our children succeed in life, not just in school. That is why we recently held our fantastic World of Work Week, bringing a whole world of possibilities right into our classrooms.

Throughout the week, our pupils met an incredible variety of guest speakers. From doctors, vets, and a lollipop lady, to a funeral director, beauticians, police officers, and car designers, our children caught a glimpse of so many different futures. We were especially proud to welcome back some of our brilliant former Woodlands pupils, who showed our children exactly what is possible with hard work and determination.

These visits give our pupils a chance to see themselves in these roles, proving that anyone from any background can thrive. Throughout all these activities, our children practised the key building blocks for their future success, which you can learn more about via the Skills Builder Essential Skills.

Mr Trower said:

"Career-related learning at a primary age is so vital. It helps children connect what they learn in the classroom to the real world, giving their learning purpose and sparking early interests that can last a lifetime."

Our Headteacher, Mrs Clark, agrees that building these dreams early is key to a bright future.

"This week was all about raising aspirations. We want every single child at Woodlands to know that there are no limits to what they can achieve. By hearing from people in our community, our pupils can see just how many exciting paths are open to them."

We want to say a huge thank you to all the amazing volunteers and visitors who gave up their time to make this week so memorable. You have helped our children feel safe, supported, and truly inspired to aim high!
