2025 Spelling Bee

Our annual Spelling Bee!

We are buzzing with pride following our spectacular annual Year 5 and 6 Spelling Bee, which took place on Friday 12th December! The atmosphere in the hall was electric as our oldest children gathered for a thrilling challenge celebrating literacy and linguistic skill.

The event was led by Mrs. Richely, who guided the children through a wide-ranging selection of tricky words designed to test their mettle. Every single participant demonstrated incredible focus and preparation, showing just how seriously they had taken the challenge. The children tackled everything from common tricky spellings to less familiar vocabulary, showcasing impressive knowledge and concentration under pressure.

Mrs. Richely commented on the children's dedication:

"The standard of spelling this year was exceptionally high. The children showed great determination and really pushed themselves. It's wonderful to see such enthusiasm for language, and I am incredibly proud of every child who took part."

As the rounds progressed, the field narrowed until only the most tenacious spellers remained. The tension was palpable as the competition reached its thrilling climax, focusing on the final three outstanding spellers.

A huge well done to every Year 5 and 6 student who stepped up to the challenge today. Taking part takes courage, and you should all be incredibly proud of your efforts!

We offer special congratulations to our three exceptional finalists: Amy, Gracey and Labeeb!

Our winners have earned the incredible honour of representing our academy at the prestigious Co-op Academies Trust Spelling Bee!

Mark your calendars! We will be cheering them on when they compete against other academies on Tuesday 6th February.

We wish our brilliant spellers the very best of luck as they prepare for the next stage of the competition. Well done Team Woodlands!
