WOW Walk to School Challenge

Step by Step, We’re Making a Difference!
On Tuesday 24th March, we were delighted to welcome Kate from Living Streets to help us launch the WOW Walk to School Challenge!
It was wonderful to see so many smiling faces as we talked about how we get to school. Our Pupil Parliament have taken on a big job too, and are now our official WOW Ambassadors.
Each day, they will help children in Year 4 and Year 5 track how they travel.
Why are we doing this?
At our school, we care about each other and our planet. Choosing active travel is a kind way to start the day. It keeps our hearts healthy, our air cleaner and our roads safer for everyone.
Children in Year 4 and 5 can join in the fun by:
- Walking to the school gates.
- Scooting or cycling with your friends.
- Park and Stride (if you live far away, you can park the car a bit further away and walk the last 10 minutes).
Our other year groups will join the challenge later this year.
Badges for Our Success
The best part? Every child who travels actively at least once a week for a month will earn a special WOW badge to wear with pride. These badges are made from recycled materials, staying true to our honest and green values.
I am so proud of our Pupil Parliament for leading the way. Seeing our community come together to walk, cycle, and scoot is brilliant. It’s about being healthy, staying safe, and looking out for one another on our journey to school.
Thank you to Kate and the Living Streets team for helping us start this journey. Let’s get moving, Team Woodlands!
