    Published 02/02/23

12 of Woodlands’ Year 5 and 6 children spent a week in Wales at Jamie’s Farm. The children helped the staff on a real working farm and became farmers for the week! Take a look at what they got up to! πŸ‘‡

    When?

    Monday 30th January – Friday 3rd February 2023

    Where?

    Jamie’s Farm, Monmouth, Wales

    What?

Jamie’s Farm uniquely combines farmingfamily and mindfulness sessions into a 5-day residential with a focus on giving children time and space to reflect, to renew and determine a new path for themselves. We do this by creating an environment where they feel respected, and are given opportunities to display their talents and show responsibility.

  • Year 6 Visit the Royal Armouries

    Published 15/01/23

As part of their current topic of Crime and Punishment, and leading on from last term’s topic of Ancient Greece, Year 6 visited The Royal Armouries in the centre of Leeds. The children took part in a workshop about battles, saw a live action role play of a battle and spent time exploring the exhibitions.

This was the best trip in Year 6 so far! We saw warriors fighting and prentended to be warriors too!

My favourite part was learning about the history of the police and seeing how they have changed to what we have today.

    A message from Mrs Clark

We’ve had a jam-packed, fun-filled autumn term. Our children have made us proud every day, showing RESPECT and resilience. Our classes have engaged in a range of new learning, been on school trips and welcomed visitors into the academy. We are excited for the new year and hope that everyone in our community has a restful, safe winter break.

I look forward to welcoming you all back to school in the new year. Take care.

We break up Friday 16 December
We are closed for a training day Tuesday 3 January
    We return Wednesday 4 January

    Reading Rocks!

Additional reading at home has proven to boost a child’s school performance, as well as increase vocabulary, build strong communicational skills, improve self-esteem, and spark their imagination.

    School of Play, 2020

Please make sure that you read with your children at home every day. Any reading counts: your child’s school reading book, a book you have at home or even reading online! Make sure you write a comment in your child’s reading record. Lots of children are earning prizes for reading at home every day!

You can also read books online using Collins Ebooks. Please ask your child’s class teacher for their log in details.
