4A visited the Education Centre at Ewden Water Treatment Works in Sheffield today as part of their water topic for this term.

The children were given a tour around the operational site where they were taken through the step by step process of how water is treated to get rid of the ‘baddies’, and how this is then released into our taps, healthy, clean and fresh for us to enjoy. The children enjoyed the interactive activities and left with some goodies from the education centre.

  • Year 3 Visit Magna

    Published 29/06/22

This week, Year 3 went to Magna in Sheffield.

The children had a great day exploring air, water, earth and fire. It was lots of fun looking around the museum learning about how the different elements are used. They even got to see a fire tornado!! At the end of the day, they had some time to play on the museum’s HUGE playground – the children and the adults enjoyed this! Miss Wilson and Miss Frame were really impressed with the children’s behaviour on the trip. They were all polite and patient whilst moving around the museum. Well done Year 3!

  • Student Voice Conference at Co-op HQ

    Published 11/06/22

Some of our year 4, 5 and 6 pupils were invited to attend the Trust’s pupil voice conference on Friday 10th June.

The event took place at The Co-op Group headquarters, One Angel Square in Manchester. The day was designed for the children to give their opinions on what schools should prioritise to make them better places and what makes Co-op Academy Woodlands a great place to learn.

There was lots of information to take in, with presentations about becoming a Co-op Young Leader, how to help local communities and what makes an effective school council.

After a delicious picnic lunch, the children were then presented with some very special gold Co-op badges to thank them for all their hard work.

It was a fantastic opportunity for our student pioneers to visit the Co-op HQ to share their thoughts and ideas. The children were great role models and did a wonderful job representing the academy.

  • Platinum Jubilee Celebrations

    Published 09/06/22

    In May 2022, we mark
Her Majesty The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee!

What is the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee?
The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee is a celebration of the historic 70-year reign of Queen Elizabeth II. This will be the first British Monarch to achieve this amount of service to the country; Queen Elizabeth II ascended to the throne on 6 February 1952, at just 25 years old. The United Kingdom, the Commonwealth, and others around the world are invited to come together to celebrate this momentous occasion.

When will the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee take place?
The four-day Platinum Jubilee celebrations will be marked from Thursday 2 to Sunday 5 June 2022, which is also a UK bank holiday weekend.

On Friday 27th May, we celebrated in style by dressing up in red, white and blue clothing. We also made lots of tasty treats and got together for a street party! Take a look at what we got up to!
