Dear Parents and Carers,
We are aware of the situation about threatening emails being sent to some schools in the south of Leeds, which have been shared on Leeds Live and Yapp App.
This isn’t something that is affecting our school, and given the difference in location we don’t expect it to. We are monitoring, as we would on any given day and will contact parents if the situation changes.
Children are currently having a normal productive school day, and are safe in our school.
Many thanks,
Mrs Clark
On Wednesday 16th September, Year 6 visited Cannon Hall Farm.
Welcome back!
What a fantastic first few days we've had to start the new school year! It's been wonderful to see so many children back in school and settling in to their new classes, getting to know their teachers and starting their learning. Our children have shown respect and incredible engagement - keep it up #TeamWoodlands!
We've also been blown away by how smart children have looked in their school uniforms, and the number of children and families coming to school on time has been amazing. Well done!
We've introduced our new behaviour expectations, and we are hoping to share these with you soon.
As we start a new school year, please remember:

If you have any questions as your child settles into their new year group, please speak to a member of our staff team on the doors, or give us a call.
Thank you!
We have had a fantastic year at Woodlands. It has been great to have so many parents join us for a range of events in school. We’ve also welcomed lots of visitors into school who are always so complementary about our children. This year, our classes have been on lots of visits and experiences to enhance their learning, making memories that will last a lifetime.
I’d like to thank you, our parents and carers, for your support this year, coming into school and taking part in events and sharing your children successes with us.
Thank you to our teachers and staff for their hard work and dedication, making a real difference for our children every day.
We’d like to wish our Year 6 children the best of luck as they move on to high school. Be yourselves and come back to visit us soon!
Have a wonderful, safe summer break. See you back in the academy in September.

Dear Parents and Carers,
Nursery end of year arrangements
In order to prepare for refurbishment works in Early Years, we will be closing Nursery on Thursday 20th and Friday 21st July 2023.
I know this will be an inconvenience for some of you, however, it will enable us to provide a greatly improved setting for all of our Early Years children in September.
Yours sincerely

On Wednesday 6th July, Year 6 packed their bags, boarded a coach and headed to Walesby Forest in Nottinghamshire for a few days of outdoor fun and adventure.
The children had the chance to challenge themselves in a range of adventurous activities, including:
We have lots of exciting events coming up over the next few weeks, including sports days, assemblies and performances. Keep your eyes peeled for the dates around school, in our letters and in the Events Section of our website.
On Tuesday 4th July, seven volunteers from Leeds Teaching Hopsitals came to Woodlands for a careers day with Year 6.
Sleeping and bed times
Sleep is really important in keeping us physically and mentally healthy. When we sleep, our bodies and minds have the time to rest, recover and process all the things which have happened to us during the day.
When we’re young, our bodies are growing and changing quickly, so we need even more sleep than adults to be able to cope with everything that’s happening.
Everybody is different, but it’s generally recommended that children and young people get between 9 and 11 hours of sleep every night.
While we understand children will want to play outside later as the summer nights are here, your children should be at home and settled by 7pm so that you can ensure your children have a decent night’s rest.
You can find out more about sleeping and bedtimes here.
Year 5 have been learning all about Africa for our topic this term. We had a celebrate African culture day with Kwame from African Activities.
The children loved learning all about Africa, doing African drumming and dancing. They also got creative, trying adakin printing and made African beads. The children heard a traditional African folk story and loved hearing all about Africa from Kwame.
